Hailing from Dublin in Ireland, Bob McCarthy has been DJing on the capital’s underground dance music scene for 15 years now. Influenced by the likes of Sasha, John Digweed and Nick Warren, Bob started DJing in 1998. His style can best be described as a fusion of progressive and tech house resulting in a distinct deep and dark underground sound. Despite the subsequent changes in electronic music genres, he has stayed true to this sound.
In 2002 Bob joined forces with several of Dublin’s top DJs to launch Collective Music, a collection of like-minded DJs with the goal of pushing the underground scene in Dublin. Attracting big name DJs from across the world, he has had the opportunity of supporting Dave Seaman, Gabriel & Dresden, 16 Bit Lolitas, Steve Gerrard and Lexicon Avenue to name but a few.
Bob has played in many of Ireland’s top clubs, from the likes of Tripod, Crawdaddy and Twisted Pepper in Dublin to Horan’s in Tralee, Co. Kerry. He also made two appearances in the Collective Music tent at the Planet Love Festival, playing alongside the cream of international talent.
In 2011 Bob joined Ireland’s premier electronic music radio station Play Dublin. Hosting his show Progress every Tuesday from 6-8pm you can expect to hear the newest and finest selection of progressive and tech house sounds.
